OUR STORY

The Pyllr story, at its foundation, is about friends coming together to build compelling products that bring joy and comfort.

Darian, an award-winning hobbyist maker, was looking to commercialize a few of his projects.

Philip, with years of consulting, engineering, and manufacturing experience, was looking to build a product or service that would benefit the community.

Terry, a financial wiz, was looking to taking his unique blend of technology and accounting experience and apply them to product creation.

We started ideating over impromptu sessions at a local cafe, then moved to workshops and garages, video calls and productivity boards.

Over time, we landed on a mission: We want to build stylish and simple-to-use smart devices that subtly fit into contemporary homes and offices. Every product is measured against our “S” chart:

Our customers will be proud to display these devices in their homes. PYLLR products are designed to be tasteful and timeless.

SIMPLE

PYLLR devices are simple to use; customers won’t need a 10-page instruction manual to use them.

SMART

PYLLR devices will easily respond to commands, learn users’ habits, and adapt to improve their daily lives. PYLLR products will integrate into customer’s existing smart home ecosystems.

SUBTLE

A PYLLR product will look like it belongs in any contemporary home; guests won’t know it’s a smart device unless they’re told.

The Pyllr Trio is our first product; we think it’s a great representation of what Pyllr stands for. We hope that it brings bring joy and comfort to your homes, and we’re excited about the opportunity to be a small part of your lives.

RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTS

Soy. Beeswax. Paraffin. Palm. Cocoanut – there are hundreds of wax combinations used in candle making. Here’s why we choose paraffin and sox wax.

Pyllr Kandl

We selected paraffin wax for our pillar candles, primarily due to its ability to hold it’s shape at high temperatures. Paraffin is created as a by-product of fossil fuel refining. We felt that using paraffin was responsible for two reasons:

The Pyllr Kandl is not a consumable product like traditional candles. It’s not designed to burn or melt and can be used for years.
We recognize that use of non-renewable fossil fuels is a challenge that our world has to solve. We believe that using paraffin is a responsible way to make use of the waste from fossil fuel refinement.

Pyllr Wax Melt

We selected soy wax for our melts. Wax melts are consumable products, so we wanted something that was biodegradable and 100% all-natural; sox wax met those needs. In addition, soy wax has a lower melt point, which means the Pyllr Trio uses less energy to release the scent from the wax melts.

Darian handles the technical prototyping of Pyllr products. A lifelong hobbyist “maker”, Darian spends his weekends routing PCBs, designing firmware, and testing microcontrollers.

Philip Burger

Operational Dude

Philip, as our operations lead, does a little of everything. He coordinates with our suppliers and partners, assists with both financial management and technical design, and keeps us on task and on track.

Terry Boepple

Commander of Finance

Terry provides strategic and tactical direction on where our money goes. He coordinates with our accountants to ensure we’re in compliance with applicable laws and is responsible for talking with investors.
